CANDI & PUDSEY are two adorable sibling Papillons who came to us at the end of April 2019. They are around eight years old and were ‘surplus to requirements. They are little rays of sunshine even though they haven’t had the best of lives, papillons by nature are happy little souls and can quite easily put a smile on your face. They think that it’s an absolute blast racing up and down the stairs and having a game of chase up in the attic. It obvious at times that Pudsey has been treated unkindly but he is very happy to be here and he is never much more than a footstep away from my side. Candi is more laid back even though as a tiny puppy she was ‘dropped by the children’ and now has a bent back leg, if she had been taken to the vets when the injury happened they would most certainly have been able to mend her leg, she now has a problem with her patella and she also has a tilted bottom jaw. They both needed dentals when they arrived, Pudsey had to have eleven teeth out which didn’t appear to bother him a jot as when he came home all he wanted was his dinner and he even tried to ‘steal’ a Yorkshire pudding that our lovely lad Bruce was tucking in to. A special thank you to our vet Nigel Parkes for his care and kindness to our oldies and of course to all the lovely vet nurses, the care that our dogs receive at Lime Trees Meir Park is second to none, I know I have said it before but it is true. Whilst they were at the vets I asked if they could share a ‘pen’ as they are inseparable and so they kindly kept them together . Candi was found to have a high temperature and a high white blood cell count pointing to an infection of some kind and as her blood test results were all fine it seemed that her teeth may be causing the problem as on a prior examination they were found to be much worse than Pudsey’s, she was also suffering from gingivitis. She was unable to have her dental and instead came home with antibiotics and pain relief. The following day she was distressed and was licking underneath her tail, I discovered that an anal abscess must have burst leaving quite a hole, poor little thing. Nigel advised me to bathe with salt water and as she was already on medication was happy to see her in a few days, along with Pudsey, unless of course things weren’t improving. She thankfully recovered well and has since had a dental.
