DINK

Dink

DINK & HEIDI.  Dear little Dink (her name was Petals when she arrived but compared to the other ponies she was so dinky that Dink kind of stuck), was rescued by Becky. She and her friends had been left in a field full of ragwort with very little grazing. Ragwort is poisonous to ponies and if they are forced to eat it can cause liver damage which can prove fatal. When Becky rescued her she was thin and very nervous but with patience she got better.  Becky then felt that she would be better in a loan home but sadly when Becky went to check on her a few months later she was more nervous than when she was first rescued and so Becky decided to find a home for her where she would be looked after in the way she deserved. As Dink was so much smaller than the other ponies, also Shetlands are experts at escaping, being so small they can usually get under standard fencing, we decided to put her with the goats as they have more than three acres to roam around in. Even so we always like the animals to have friends of their own kind. Sam Matthews, who kindly transported Dink for us free of charge, told us of a 20 year old Shetland needing a home but when we enquired she had been found a home but we were asked if we would consider Heidi. Heidi’s owner had been taken ill. She then went to a lady who found her another home but sadly she wasn’t in that home for long as the children lost interest.  Dink and Heidi are great friends.
